Once the card looks exactly like the designer wants the card to be printed like, the printer operator can signal the software to transmit the card information to the specialized printer. The printer is able to accept and interpret the software transmission and create a full color id card by using a colored print ribbon to burn the image onto the plastic card. In less than 30 seconds, a complete card is printed and ready for use by the card holder. Printers today have specialized features to provide security to the printed cards. Optional modules such as dual sided printing, encoding options, addition of biometric data, and secure overlays called holograms are available on various printer modules. Id card specialists advise security personnel, human resouce professionals and business owners on the best printer set up for their requirements.
