When making this decision, some procurement employees want to make sure that the purchase is cost effective. The convenience of owning a complete system is worth considering. The card can be designed as needed and can be changed on a minutes notice. The cards can be printed at any time and ready for wearing within a short time span. Delivery from an id badge service company may not be as speedy as needed. When determining the card printer system needed, first one must identify what type of card is needed. Some are only needed for a day or less and then disposed of. Other cards are needed for a year or two. Cards, such as these, can be printed on a single side or a dual sided printer depending on the information printed and where it is placed. To improve the security of the card, some companies use photos on their ids. Complex badges are also common in large companies and government. Embedded information and secure overlays provide additional levels of use and security. If your card will be used for a short time, you make wish to obtain a badge maker and make convention type badges. Most basic pvc card printers today print either a single or dual sided badge and will print monochrome (one color) or full color cards. The full color cards will allow for a photo to be printed on the card. Options for professional printers include such things as overlay lamination and encoding of technical cards for high security and multi function use. When searching for the best printer system for your current needs, do not forget to think about how your organization may change in the future. Planning today for changes tomorrow can save you money by purchasing a printer with additional security modules of by purchasing a printer that has field upgradeable components available.
